La Mémoire Ouverte
La Mémoire Ouverte
By Paul Noirot
Stock, 1976, 370 pp

A member of the French Communist Party from 1943 until he was expelled in 1969, and for much of that time a member of its Central Committee, Noirot recounts the history of the Party, its politics, its quarrels, its compromises. He has an axe to grind, and the book is as much about his own revolutionary commitment as it is about the Party's.
