Perspectives in American Diplomacy: Essays on Europe, Latin America, China, and the Cold War

The rapid growth during the past decade of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHARF) attests to the increasing specialization of the study and teaching of history. This volume contains papers from SHARF's 1975 conference. The best papers are Raymond A. Esthus' "Roosevelt, Russia, and Peacemaking 1905" and a group on the American response to Nazi influence in Latin America. Three biographical studies of Harriman, Kennan and Bohlen are thin.
