The Albanians: Europe's Forgotten Survivors
The Albanians: Europe's Forgotten Survivors
By Anton Logoreci
Gollancz, 1977, 230 pp

Anton Logoreci, for years associated with the BBC's Albanian broadcasts, is well qualified to present Albanian history and politics to Western readers, though his book is all too brief. His characterization of the Hoxha regime is merciless: the country is "an enclosed camp where Mao's totalitarian doctrines, interlaced with local Stalinist practices, have been tried out under perfect laboratory . . . conditions."
