After analyzing the reasons behind the contemporary Japanese consensus against nuclear rearmament, Passin considers the factors that might favor or inhibit such rearmament in the future. Overholt also issues a timely warning about the possibility of proliferation chains in northeast Asia from Taiwan to Korea to Japan and in south Asia from India to Pakistan to Iran.
