Mexico in Crisis

After taking pessimistic note of the factors reinforcing continuity, such as the hold of the PRI, capitalist development, the power of a bourgeoisie undaunted by Echeverria's addiction to "radical rhetoric and half measures," the author asserts that "nothing short of a major upheaval in the Mexican system could genuinely improve their [the masses'] lot."
