The editor achieves his purpose of providing information about contemporary Hungary, but, as he acknowledges, the articles "tend to reflect the thinking of the current . . . leadership"; and, by their appearance in the elegantly printed and smoothly edited New Hungarian Quarterly, they also represent the fare that the leadership thinks suitable for Western readers.
