Superpower Intervention in the Middle East

By Peter Mangold

St. Martin's, 1978, 209 pp.

This heavily documented book by a British expert covers much familiar ground in showing how the United States and the U.S.S.R. fashioned their respective policies in the Middle East. The author gives particular attention to "military policy" in the form of arms transfers, minatory diplomacy, and on occasion actual deployment of combat forces - practices less likely to be rewarding in the future.
