The Third World and Press Freedom
The Third World and Press Freedom
Edited by Philip C. Horton
Praeger, 1978, 253 pp.

The unending controversy about what is news and how to report it, reflecting basically different philosophies in the West and in the Third World, is admirably described and analyzed in these two books. Righter's is the better organized and better written, while the Horton volume, the result of a conference of journalists held in 1977, contains a rich variety of views.
