From Guns to Butter

By Bernard Udis
Ballinger, 1978
376 pp. $20.00

An ambitious if somewhat rambling study which deals with many questions: military procurement systems; the relationship between government and the private sector in high-technology industries; international collaboration in technology transfer; and problems of diversification, adjustment, and transferability of resources within the aerospace, electronic and nuclear industries. Many important issues are usefully raised but the book suffers from lack of a strong focus.
