Middle East Contemporary Survey

Edited by Colin Legum
Holmes & Meier, 1979
684 pp. $65.00

The first volume in an ambitious annual undertaking covering main developments in the Middle East area, plus a country-by-country survey, for the period of 1976-77. It is essentially a product of the Shiloah Center in Tel Aviv, which put out the earlier Middle East Record. Israeli scholars have done all the country studies, but Legum's editorship and the collaboration of a few American and British authors make this an international enterprise.
