East-West Trade and the Gatt System

By M. M. Kostecki
St. Martin's, 1979
157 pp. $25.00

The emphasis is on the different arrangements Poland, Hungary and Romania have with GATT; but Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia are briefly discussed and there is an interesting chapter on the Soviet approach. Writing in Geneva (he is now in Montreal), the Polish author clearly had good access to participants and has given us by far the fullest account of these matters in print. His proposals for improvement may be a bit weak.
