Le Mouvement National Kurde

By Chris Kutschera
Flammarion, 1979
393 pp.

More than any other book written in a Western language, this work by Chris Kutschera, a French journalist, gives full and play-by-play coverage of the Kurdish national movement. It is excellent on the place of the Kurdish question in the politics of Iran, Iraq and Turkey, and in the relations of the outside powers contending against each other in the Middle East. Mullah Mustafa Barzani emerges larger than life.
