Press, Politics and Power: Egypt's Heikal and Al-Ahram

By Munir K. Nasser

Iowa State University Press, 1979, 175 pp.

Mohammed Heikal's extensive writings and genius for self-advertisement have already made the world aware of his exploits as editor, writer and confidant of statesmen. This compact biography, in relying heavily on interviews with Heikal himself, tends to reflect his own self-estimate, but is nevertheless an honest effort to assess his place in Egypt's public life and to establish the facts on such matters as his troubled relations with Sadat.
