Official positions, interest-group statements and attitudes, and public opinion about 11 proposals concerning the NIEO are set out and, to a degree, analyzed by academics and consultants. The Canadian half of the book, by John O'Manique of Carleton, is an orderly, comprehensive account; the four U.S. papers are uneven and often colored by the authors' disagreement with what they are reporting. In starting this series of national volumes, UNITAR seems to be looking for ways to persuade more people in the industrial world that advance toward a NIEO would help them.
