Communism in Africa

Edited by David E. Albright
Indiana University Press, 1980
277 pp. $12.95

A more accurate title would be "The U.S.S.R. in Africa." Its symposium format engenders perhaps inevitable repetition about Soviet intervention in Angola and Ethiopia. Most interesting are essays by Colin Legum on African reactions to the U.S.S.R., Marina Ottaway on Marxism in Ethiopia and Mozambique, and Edward T. Wilson on Russian activity in Africa going back to the eighteenth century.
