A History of India

By K. Antonova, G. Bongard-Levin and G. Kotovsky
Progress, 1979

Kotovsky, the principal author, is the Soviet Union's leading specialist on Indian history and politics. Although this volume is an impressive account, from a rather sophisticated Marxist view, of Indian history since the eighteenth century, it unfortunately has only a very sketchy chapter on Indian developments in the 1970s.
