The Lean Years: Politics in the Age of Scarcity
The Lean Years: Politics in the Age of Scarcity
By Richard J. Barnet
Simon and Schuster, 1980, 349 pp.

How can the world avoid running short of energy, food, minerals and water? Will the struggle to control resources make life more dangerous and inequitable, or can we reverse the process? These are serious questions on which this book throws some light. Unfortunately, the analysis is not very rigorous and the conclusions concerning the reordering of the world are stated more than proved.
