The leader of the Labor Party takes time out to write sketches of the achievements of seven men who helped shape Israel and strongly influenced Peres himself. They include Ben-Gurion, "the greatest Jew of our generation," and Levi Eshkol. In the process Peres gives a few sidelights on key episodes in Israel's history.
