A close juridical and political analysis of the various treaties which assembled constituted the legal basis of Ostpolitik. Written under a pseudonym by a participant in the negotiations and a "convinced supporter" of this policy, the author emphasizes the special importance that the German negotiators attached to recognizing the existence of the "national question," including the hope for the renewed unity of the German people in peace and freedom.
