Two excellent complementary books on the same subject. Stoff is more succinct and analytical. He concentrates on the wrangling over oil policy within the U.S. government. Miller presents a fuller, sometimes overly detailed picture of conditions in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East in general. He describes American events largely through the eyes of diplomats.
