Elbaki Hermassi, a specialist in North African affairs, expands his thinking to the entire Third World. He is rightly skeptical of the approaches of Western scholars, who have been entranced with their own theories based largely on Western experience; skeptical also of most Third World thinking, which is "impregnated by the intellectual hegemony of the West." The future of the Third World "remains to be invented."
