Eritrea: The Unfinished Revolution

By Richard Sherman
Praeger, 1980
197 pp. $19.95

A sympathetic observer of the Eritrean liberation movements lays out the history of the Eritrean-Ethiopian conflict (starting his account with the earliest known movement of peoples into the area in 3000 BC) . His depiction of the two major groups' origins, structures, ideologies, foreign relations and administration is the fullest and seemingly most authoritative of any published recently. He is at odds with most other commentators, however, in positing an active Cuban combat role in Eritrea.
