In two solid volumes Professor Davies describes with exemplary organization and detail the first phase of Stalin's collectivization campaign. A collaborator of E.H. Carr in writing the latter's monumental history of Soviet Russia in the 1920s, he carries on in the same tradition in these, the first of a projected series on the industrialization of the U.S.S.R. in the years from 1929 through 1936.
