The Politics of the Caribbean Community, 1961-79

Limited to the Commonwealth Caribbean, this analysis covers CARIFTA, CARICOM, trade and production, economic integration, foreign policy coordination, and functional cooperation. The author makes an important point: the Community was not created for the purpose of securing economic and political integration, but rather "it is a structure created by nationalistic governments to make nationalist policies more effective by pursuing them within a regional framework."
