The second volume of the Daedalus papers on U.S. defense policy in the 1980s maintains the high standards set by the first volume (noted in Foreign Affairs, Winter 1980/81). Yet, given the wide array of authors, there is considerable overlapping and duplication within the grand oeuvre-e.g., there are four essays on the Atlantic Alliance-and most readers will want to approach the materials selectively.
