Beyond Camp David: Emerging Alignments and Leaders in the Middle East
By Paul A. Jureidini and R.D. McLaurin
Syracuse University Press, 1981, 197 pp.

A survey of current trends and a five-year projection, patchy in organization but positive in argument and bold in prediction. The authors are properly impressed with the prospects for continued instability (foreseeing likely disintegration for Lebanon, Syria, Iran and possibly others) but are optimistic about Egypt and see real possibilities for successful U.S. diplomacy if the policymakers have the wit and courage to seize them.
