Power, Politics, and Provincialism: Canada Since 1945

An excellent and greatly needed survey. The authors are impatient with the ponderous introspection which characterizes so much academic writing about Canada. Their theme, expressed in lively prose and from a Toronto point of view, is that "the period from 1945 to 1980 was one of almost uninterrupted economic growth whose benefits were widely shared among all levels of Canadian society and in all regions."
