Eastern Europe in the 1980s
Eastern Europe in the 1980s
Edited by Stephen Fischer-Galati
Westview Press, 1981, 291 pp

A successor to Eastern Europe in the Sixties, with the same editor, and devoted mainly to describing the 1970s, this collaborative work is remarkable for its conservative prognostications-the 1980s will be more of the same-and for its topical rather than country-by-country approach. The editor stresses the limits of diversity, but the authors do not all take the cue.
