A Soviet discussion of post-Mao developments in China which concludes that "Leftist Maoism" has been replaced by "pragmatic Maoism" designed to secure the "hegemonistic aspirations of Peking." According to the authors, the strengthening of the present regime and the expansion of China's economic and military power may lead to greater Chinese bellicosity in the international arena.
