The Middle East Challenge, 1980-1985

Edited by Thomas Naff
Southern Illinois University Press, 1981
179 pp. $12.95

A compendium of papers and commentaries, the results of a University of Pennsylvania workshop held at the end of 1980 on what problems the Middle East may present in the next few years and what the Reagan Administration might or should do about them. The contributors (Hermann Eilts, Eric Rouleau, William Quandt and John Lichtblau, among others) were well chosen, and what they say remains relevant even as events chip away some of the assumptions and predictions.
