S Sh A: Za Fasadom Global'noi Politiki

By A.A. Kokoshin
Izdatel'stvo Politicheskoi Literatury, 1981
367 pp.

Just as American Sovietologists have tried their hand at analyzing the influence of domestic factors on Soviet foreign policy, a Soviet Americanologist does the same for U.S. policy, and it proves as difficult a task. The main problem is too much rather than too little material, for the period covered includes Vietnam, Watergate, the energy crisis and all the complexities of the Carter Administration (which have to be sifted through the requirements of Marxist-Leninist interpretation). Even so, Soviet readers will get more relevant information on the subject than they have been accustomed to.
