The Iron Triangle: The Politics of Defense Contracting

By Gordon Adams
Council on Economic Priorities, 1981
465 pp.

The title refers to the relationship among defense contractors, Congress and the Pentagon. This study by a public-interest group is long on documentation but somewhat thin in analysis. The closeness of the relationships, based upon the revolving door of government and industry jobs, extensive lobbying efforts, and political contributions, is indeed documented in considerable detail. Whether it is necessarily as insidious as suggested is a matter of interpretation.
