Religion and Politics in the Middle East

Mainly about the growing importance of Islamic movements and parties in the political life of the Middle East, this symposium also contains three chapters on Israel. For the most part it is uneven country-by-country coverage, illustrating the diversity of the phenomena, with themes and emphasis left to each author's own inclination. Most of the contributions, previously published in Middle East Review, date from 1978 to 1980.
