The Oil Factor in U.S. Foreign Policy, 1980-1990
By Melvin A. Conant
Lexington Books, 1982, 119 pp

This is not one more study on energy. Assuming U.S. dependence on imported oil for some time to come, Mr. Conant looks at the resulting problems in foreign policy. Succinctly, he lays out some hard choices for the United States in its relations with the producers, Israel, allies, the U.S.S.R. and our North American neighbors. In the preparation of the book, the author worked with a study group at the Council on Foreign Relations.
