The Longest War: Israel in Lebanon
The Longest War: Israel in Lebanon
By Jacobo Timerman
Knopf, 1982, 167 pp.

World famous because of his awful experience of persecution in Argentina, Timerman now speaks out as a citizen of Israel against "Sharon's war" and what it has done not only to Lebanese and Palestinian civilians but to the integrity and the soul of Israel. This is a violent polemic-it calls the Prime Minister unbalanced, a terrorist and a fascist-and has earned its author much criticism in Israel, but it deals with issues of crucial significance to the country's future.
