Two Decades of Debate: The Controversy Over U.S. Companies in South Africa

This Investor Responsibility Research Center report provides an extremely useful compendium of information on the campaign against U.S. investment in South Africa, detailing the approaches of activist groups and measures adopted by national and state governments as well as institutional investors and corporations (including a current balance sheet on the achievements of the Sullivan Principles). What comes through is the surprising solidarity and dynamism of the anti-apartheid movement, now institutionalized in ongoing oversight committees and moving forward in the series of measures on disinvestment recently passed by state legislatures.
