This volume brings together the excellent, separately published papers of several years ago of the International Consultative Group on Nuclear Energy sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation and Chatham House. The volume stands well above most of its plentiful competition on this topic in terms of scope, detail and insight. The conditions which it concludes are necessary if nuclear power is to be successfully developed so as to fill an increasing proportion of the world's future energy needs-conditions such as public acceptance, systematic development without undue delay, and reliability of nuclear supplies so as to reduce incentives for proliferation-remain far from having been satisfied.
