L'Étonnante Histoire de l'Opep
L'Étonnante Histoire de l'Opep
By Pierre Terzian
Editions Jeune Afrique, 1983, 400 pp

This lively history of OPEC tells more than most books about the early days, and brings out the personalities involved as well as the policies of their governments. It stresses the ability of the organization to endure through changing circumstances and to gain strength, not least in response to external pressure. But as of early 1983, the author has the same questions as everybody else about OPEC's future. He is a Lebanese journalist of Armenian origin who now works at the Arab Center for Oil Studies in Paris.
