Chinese Defence Policy

Edited by Gerald Segal and William T. Tow
University of Illinois Press, 1984
286 pp. $29.95

The last comprehensive analysis of Chinese defense policy is well over a decade old and, although there have been good articles on the subject, a broad survey of the issue has been missing. This collection of essays goes some way toward filling the gap. There are informative chapters on the Chinese ground forces, the navy, the air force, the nuclear forces, strategic doctrine, the military industry, and other such subjects.
