A House Divided: Argentina, 1880-1980

By Eduardo Crawley
St. Martin's, 1985
472 pp. $35.00

The author, an Argentine journalist based in London, has combined secondary and media sources, interview materials, and well-selected anecdotes to produce an interesting account of a century of troubled history in a troubled country. Not a work of scholarship, since archival records have not been used, nor have various respected secondary works, so that some opinions or interpretations will seem questionable to specialists, who would also have appreciated footnoting.
