Anti-satellite (ASAT) weapons, rather than ballistic missile defense, is the main focus of this volume, prepared by SIPRI. There are many authors from the West and the East, making for a sometimes too brief and contradictory analysis of complicated issues. Nevertheless, the volume as a whole argues a consistent case for a bilateral moratorium on the testing and development of ASAT weapons, to be followed by a complete ban.
