Decline and Fail: The Ailing Nuclear Power Industry

By Peter Stoler

Dodd, Mead, 1985, 208 pp.

If the government had regulated the nuclear power industry more strictly instead of being so friendly to it, the industry would be better off today. Peter Stoler, a Time correspondent, makes a good case for this view but thinks the dying industry can and should be saved. Better management, learning from foreign experience plus more governmental concern with safety are the main prescriptions. The detailed history that occupies most of the book covers rather familiar ground.
