Algeria: The Revolution Institutionalized

By John P. Entelis
Westview Press, 1986
239 pp. $30.00

A "profile" of Algeria that provides at least a brief look at all aspects: history, geography, population, economy, society, culture, internal politics and foreign policy. It is, however, more than simple description; the author displays a keen critical sense especially in analyzing the economy (including the conspicuous failure in agriculture) and the political system; less so, in his treatment of Algeria's militant international role.
