The Global Struggle for More: Third World Conflicts With Rich Nations
By Bernard D. Nossiter
Harper & Row, 1987, 254 pp

This lively account of the rise and fall of efforts to create a New International Economic Order is full of facts and tough judgments: "For all practical purposes, the South's grandiose ambition is dead." Mr. Nossiter would end national aid programs. No good solutions are in sight for the debt issue or trade problems unless the industrial countries become prosperous once more. Many international problems will remain and this book provides a good review of what they are, along with suggestions for what developing countries have to do for themselves.
