The author was a staff aide to Congressman Edward J. Markey, sponsor of the nuclear freeze resolution in the House. He has written a fascinating, detailed account of the interaction of the Freeze Movement, Congress and the Reagan Administration. The book is and will remain an important source for the political history of arms control. It is fresh and original on a subject which generates much repetitious writing. The author's conclusion is that the Freeze Movement and congressional action had a large and positive influence.
