Visions and Nightmares: America After Reagan

By Robert Lekachman

Macmillan, 1987, 316 pp.

This is an excoriating and witty attack on the domestic and military policies of the Reagan Administration by an economist with a literary flair comparable to J. K. Galbraith. The author's nightmare is that after Reagan there will be more Reagan. The vision is an election in 1988 which will redirect the nation toward compassion, equality and justice-perhaps under the leadership of Mario Cuomo. An inspiring book for liberals.
