Squandering Eden: Africa at the Edge

An American journalist working in tandem with a South African environmental scientist paints a vast panorama of the environmental depredations inflicted on Africa by its own people and by outsiders, largely in the quest for modernization. Traversing the continent north to south and east to west, they learn from the African people about how diminishing natural resources affect their lives, and how their lives affect the lands they depend on for survival.
