Remaking The World Bank
Remaking The World Bank
By Barend A. de Vries
Seven Locks Press, 1987, 200 pp

Packed into this small, thoughtful book is a most informative analysis of the past practices of the World Bank and a series of concrete recommendations for dealing with an international economy "now drastically different from what it was in the fifties and sixties, when it first developed its lending standards." As a longtime member of the bank's staff, Mr. de Vries knows what he is talking about and makes a lucid, persuasive case for the changes he proposes.
