The Superpowers In Crisis: Implications Of Domestic Discord

By Richard J. Krickus

Pergamon-Brassey's, 1987, 236 pp.

The author argues that both the Soviet Union and the United States are in deep trouble. The economic and nationality problems of the former may be "leading to the demise of the Soviet regime and the disintegration of the Russian empire." The American problem is neglect of the general welfare instigated by "extremists of the right." He hopes for a peaceful transition to pluralism in the Soviet Union and a new social contract in the United States. A good book, forcefully written.
