Innovation Oder Stagnation

This volume reaches the same conclusions on the Gorbachev economic reforms as do many of the current works in English on the subject, but the author had a special vantage point in that until 1986 he was a leading economic official of the German Democratic Republic, working with colleagues in the Soviet Union who are now among Gorbachev's advisers. His book also covers the problems of innovation and reform in the East European states, but he does not go into national specifics, except in the case of East Germany.
